HARBOUR BOARD.
Tho monthly meeting of the Harbour Board was held this afternoon. Present : Hon. T. K. Macdonald (chairman), Messrs. F. Townsend, T. M. Wilford, M'Lellan, Daniell, Beauchamp, Shirtcliffe, Fletcher, Hons, T. W. hislop and F. H. Frazer Before the ordinary business was taken the roll of electors for 1907 was approved on tho motion of tho chairman. The current account was reported to have a credit balance of £21,357, and the imprest account a credit balance of £850, while there was £26,104 on fixed deposit. Payments as per schedules amounted to £16,264 ; progress and final payments on contracts £4993, salaries for January, £778. The chairman reported that Messrs. Izard and Weston had forwarded for tho seal of the board surrenders of leases of sections 20 and 21 Graingerstreet block, held respectively by Messrs. Bolton and Atkins, and new leases to Mr. Bolton for section 20 and half 21, and to Messrs. George and Kersley, Ltd., for half of section 21 for the unexpired balance ofthe term, ft was uecided that the seal be affixed thereto. The Wharves and Accounts Committee recommended tbe board, among other things.: — That tho bylaws as printed and circulated to members of the board be. advertised, and come up for adoption ut a special meeting, to be held on Tuesday, the 26th February, 197 ; to consent to a transfer of foreehore license for oyster bed at Balena Bay from M. liabich to J. Milesi, on payment of a transfer fee of £1 Is and stamp, duty; to authorise tho engineer to order a Worthington hydraulic puniping engine from Messrs. Simpson Bros., at an estimated cost, duty paid Wellington, of £3650; to call for tenders for lending on Glasgow leases sections on tho Te Aro Reclamation East, adjacent to the boat harbour for boatbuilding purposes, at upset rentals based on £1 per foot frontage per annum. Payments of £2203, as per schedules, wero approved and the board went into committee.
The results of the annual examination in connection with the scholarships at To Auto Native College offered by Mr. Douglas M'Lean, of Napier, to boye attending the various native schools wore received to-day by the Education Board. Tho sonior schola-rehip has been won by G£orge Bertrand, at present attending Te> Auto College, and tho junior scholarships by Te I'ani Taurciw, of Te K»o school, North Auckland, and Albert Turci, of Rangitukia school, East Cape.
