« ASSOCIATED BOARD AWARDS. MEDALS AND~EXHIBITIONS. Tho Associated Boird's examinations, practical and theoretical, having now been completed for the currpnt year, the gold and silver medals, awarded annually to those candidates who gain highest honours marks in tho advanced und intermediate grades have been allotted as stated below Full marks, 150; honours, 130; to qiialify for a medal, 135: — ADVANCED GRADE. Gold medal — Miss Annie Dawson, pianoforte, 135 mark?. Teacher, ths Webbo School of Music. Auckland. Silver medal — None awarded. Next in order of merit, Miss Ivy Voegler, pianoforte, 134 marks. Teacher, the Webbo School of Music, Auckland. INTERMEDIATE GRADE. Gold medal — Miss Millie lies, pianoforte, 140 marks. Teacher, the late Mr. A. T. Barth, Dxinedin. Silver medals — Miss Ethel M. Hutton, pianoforte, 136 marks (teacher, Miss Emily Thompson, Christchurch), and Mire Doris Haywood, harmony, 136 marks (teacher, St. Mary's Convent, Wellington). Next in order of merit — Miss .uorothy Browning, pianoforte, 135 marks. Teacher, Mr. Charles Gray, Invercargill. FREE EXHIBITIONS. For the first time this year, the AsGociated Board offers three exhibitions to candidates ia Auetralasitv who, in the opinion of the cxaminors, show exceptional musteal promise. All candidates, without regiird to age, or grade of examination lor which they are entered, are eligible for thes9 exhibitions, and tho fortunate winnora will be given a free course of tuition at the Royal Academy or tho Royal College, hv London, extending over two of three years. Mr. Walton Wesche, this year's examiner, in his report to the board, will recommend the names of two candidates from this colony, who, in his opinion, show exceptional musical promise, and who are in every way fitted to receive theso exhibitions. Tho board's decision on Mr. Wesche's recommendation will be awaited with interest.
