BERLIN AMUSED.
THE KOPENICK ROBBERY. "UNIFORM FETISH." rrHESS ASSOCIATION.! BERLIN, 18th October. The daring theft committed at Kopenick has caused considerable amusement in Berlin. A man wearing a captain's uniform and bearing a forged military order, it will be remembered, met a corporal and eleven Guardsmen marching to Berlin with documents. He induced them /to follow him to the Town Hall at Kopenick, eight miles away, where he arrested the Mayor and took four thousand marks from the safe. The man ordered the Mayor /to be escorted to prison at Berlin, and tola a portion of the Guardsmen to remain and guard the Town Hall. The rogue then disappeared. The newspaper Tageblatt, in the course of an article, entitled "The Uniform Fetish," says the swindler succeeded because Prussian soldiers have been systematically broken of thinking.
