Newman was charged s with failing to stamp a, duplicate re- - ceipfc. Defendant pleaded guilty, and ; ea,id he was totally unaware that duplii cates required lo be stamped, and that : sUch a thing was unheard of in local ' business circles. The Inspector of Po- ■ lice said there was no reason to doi'bt 1 that the original was stamped, but ! the department considered duplicates ! also should be stamped. Subsequently 1 defendant withdrew his plea of guilty, . and entered one of not guilty, to enable the Magistrate to go into the question thoroughly.
