« The vacant seat on tho Petone Borough Council will probably be contested by exCouncillors Austin and Castle and Mr. Colquhoun. Mr. J. U. Collins, 8.A., formerly on the staff of Wellington College, has been appointed first assistant master at Nelson College. A presentation has been mado by tho employees of The New Houso to Miss Turner, who is severing her connection with the firm, in view of her approaching marriage. Lost Thursday evening the members of the St. Peter's Club presented Mr. G. W. Morgan with a handsomo travelling-bag, 0.. the occasion of his removal from Wellington to Forlon. Mr. G. C. Beckett, proprietor of tho Whangarci Morning Press and North Auckland Times, and secrotary of the Marsden branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation, is at present in Wellington. It is the intention oi Miss M'Lean, M.A., lady principal of the Wellington Girls' College, who was granted twelve months' leave of absence at tho last meeting of the Board of Governors, to proceed next year to Europe, where she will spend eomo time visiting the leading schools and colleges.
