THE WEST COAST.

AN ASSOCIATION FORMED. About a hundred and fifty persons of both sexes attended a meeting at the Sydney-street Schoolroom last night, called for the purposo of forming an association of Wet.t Coasters. Mr. A. R. Guinness, M.H.R., presided. Hon. R. H. J. Reeves moved, and it w.w seconded by Mr. R. M'Kenzic, M.H.R., that a West Coast Association be forrnsd in Wellington for tho purpose of cementing friendship among West Coasters Amougthoso who supported the motion was Mr. T. H. Smith, one of the pioneers of thd Coast, who said he was the father of the fixst boy born on the West Coast goldflolds. The motion was carried unanimouslj', and all present decided to become members of the association. The following officer® were elected: — President, Mr. A. R. Guinness, M.H.R. ; vice-presidents, Mrs. Seddon, tho Hon. R H. J Reeves, M.L.C., Messrs. R. M'Kenzie, W. T. Wood, and R. Colvin, M.H.R.'s, T. Dwan/sen., SI. Kennedy, F. M'Parfand, P. J. O'Regan ; committee, Misses Seddon, May Seddon, and Rubi Seddon, L. Ziegler, GUbert, Mrs. Beck, Captain Seddon, T. Y. Seddon, Stuart Seddon, J. Sl'Grath r W. Ross, T. H. Coltman, T. B. Dwan, R-. H. Williams, D. Hannan, E. J. Fitzgibbon, Lutz, F. MTarland, ion., M'lnroe, E. Cody, H. Cumming, L. Dwan, W. C. Goaqnoine, J. 0. Caldwell, W. J. Organ, and Falvey; treasurer, Mr. W. Ross The secretary is to be elected by the committee. It was also decided that tho meeting support the candidature of Mr. T. Y. Seddon for the Westland seat.
