THE EXHIBITION.
I«T TKLJBOEirn.— PREB3 ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTOHURCH, 22nd June In connection with the decision of the Entertainment Committee of the New Zealand International Exhibition to adjourn indefinitely as a protest against the failure of the Executive Commissioners to reply to letters, Mr. G. S. Munro, Chief Commissioner, states that ho does not know of any correspondence that has not been attended to. The chairman of the Entertainment Committee states that they had written to the commissioners on the 31sfc May, and again on tho 7th June, neither of which communications had been taken the slightest notice of. The culmination of the matter would bring before the executive the important question of it*» own .status as to whether the resolutions passed by tho executive were to be ignored by the commissioners ; if so, then the executive had no standing whatever. Tins wna a point which the Executive Committee would not doubt deal with on Thursduy. The weekly report states that Mr. George M'Gregor arrived on Saturday with fifteen Maoris, who will undertake the necessary work in connection with the Maori pah. By tho joint efforts of the Union and Hudclart-Parker Companies it is estimated that it will bo possible to carry from 8000 to 10,000 passengers from Australia to New Zealand per month, should the occasion demand it. Tho sports ground of the exhibition is now practically finished. The concert hall, tho fernery, and the art gallery are now practically finished, and in the course of the next day or two tho latter buildings will bo taken over from the contractors.
