♦ TO THE EBITOB. Sir, — Now that the final obsequies to the late Premier have been performed, it is time to turn to the consideration of the welfare of the colony. j At last election the general policy of the Government was hardly questioned; all sides recognised • that Liberalism was the only policy suited to the country. Nevertheless, the total voles in Opposition were, I believe, within 10 per cent, of the total votes for the Government. Tho one watchword of tho Opposition was "Honest and Efficient Administration," and it was on that watchword that the Opposition votes were polled. But whether it is so or not, the present time utforda au opportunity for the public to insist upon some guarantee for the granting and maintenance of the two essentials to the welfare of tho State : Liberalism, coupled with honest and efficient administration. — I am, etc., DEMOCRAT. i 22nd Juhr. 1906,
