THE MEAT SCANDAL.
1 AMERICAN INSPECTION BILL [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW YORK, 16th Juno. President Roosevelt objects to tha Houso Committee's amendments to the Meat Inspection Bill, because they do not provide for the inspection of meat at all hours of the day and night, and because they do not empower tho courts to review tho inspectors' decisions. President Roosevelt is determined to secure adequate legislation, even if an -extra session of Congress is necessary. The meat scandals are affecting tho demand for tin pktes, making speculators in tin nervous. MR. ROOSEVELT'S STRICTURES 7. (Received June 18, 8.33 a.m.) NEW YORK, 17th June. Mr. Wansworth, Chairman of tho Agricultural Committee, complains of President Roosevelt's strictures impugning the sincerity and competency of tho Committee of the House of Representatives. ARGENTINE FROZEN MEAT. LONDON, 16th June. In connection with tho report of the medical officer who informed tho Sculcootes (Yorkshire) Board of Guardians that thirty-five cases of sickness occurred in the workhouse, and six deaths, through eating Argentine frozen meat, a committee of enquiry set up to investigate the matter found that the Argentino frozen meat when delivered «o the workhouse was sound. It afterwards went bad owing to faulty appliances and improper means of storage.
