The West Coast, Buller, and Horo- j wbenua Unions wrote- nominating vice- j presidents uO the New Zealand Union. The secretary was instructed to reply that the nominations should have come fco hand before the annual meeting and regretting the officers 'could not bo elected for this year under the ' circumstances. The bylaws of the union do not provide ' for election of vice-presidente except at an annual meeting. The N"ew Zealand Referees' Association wrote covering the following resolutions passed at its annual conference :—: — (1) That the New Zealand Rugby Union be asked to suggest to the English Rugby Union the advisability of having the law altered so as to provide that players not in a f scrummage must not advanco further forward than a lino drawn through the back of tha scrummage until the ball be out of such scrummage. (2) This conference respectfully urges th« New Zealand Union to t?ke steps to ensure the immediate receipt of all alterations to and interpretations of the laws of the game by the international board. (3) That in future tho New Zealand Union be asked to forward to the New Zealand Referees' Association all 'decisions given by the Appeal Council. It was decided to apply io the association that the first request was not. favoured, that steps had already been taken to ensure the receipt of all alterations and interpretations of laws as early as possible. The association also asked for representation on the Appeal Counoil of tho union. This request could not be entertained for this season, as the Appeal Council already elected had continuity of office until the next annual meeting. A. request conveyed from the annual meetine of the Taranaki. Union that a disqualification bo removed was not entertained. A disqualification imposed by the Wellington Rugby Union on W. H. Bennett for sending in a wrong name on a list of players handed to a referee was removed at the request of the Wellington Rugby 1 Union, it having been shown that Bennett acted in ignorance and on wrong instructions. A player disqualified for life applied for removal of his disqualification, which had been current for six years. It was decided that the union had no power to remove the disqualification, which was imposed for a grave act of professionalism. The Marlborough Union asked for the removal of disqualifications on various players, as tho union was inaugurating the district scheme. Tho request was declined, as the. reason given wos not considered sufficient to warrant taking any action. The Nelson Union asked for the removal of a disqualification. It was de--cided to ask for a note of the circumstances and evidence under whioh th» disqualification 'was imposed.
