BOWLING.

NEWTOWN CLUB. The annual meeting of the Newtown Bowling Club was held last night, the provident (Mr. J. W. Kinniburgh) presiding. During the discussiop on the report and balance-sheet (the main points of which were published yesterday), Mr. Crewes said the club had been going from bad to worse, until now they bad on overdraft at the bank. He moved that the report be adopted with the exception of the last clause relating to the proposal to erect a new pavilion. The amendment was seconded by Mr. Underwood, who did not agree with the proposal to erect a new pavilion in face of a decreasing membership. i The chairman said the directors had merely brought forward the proposal for discussion. They considered that the new pavilion would only cost £250, and that the 6 per cent, interest on that amount would be met by the additional membership which the extra accommodation would probably attract. After discussion, Mr. Crewe's motion was carried, and the report as amended was adopted. The following vfficeis were elected : — Directors, MesEKs. S. Alpe, A. Campbell, J. Danks, J. Pollock, A. Ramsay, J. Wright, and T. Bland; secretary, Mr. Q. Scott; treasurer, Mr. J. D'Emden; auditors, Metnns. J. W. Salmon and J. Lougliton; delegate to Northern Bowling Association, Mr. A Campbell. On the motion of Mr. Howarth, it wiih decided that the directors elect the match committee from among themselves, instead of from among the members of the club A letter from the combined committee of the Wellington City and Suburban Bowling Clubs regarding the establishment of a local association was referred to the directors. Mr. J. J. Roberts moved, Mr. Barnes seconded, and it was carried, that the new pavilion be gone on with. Th« meeting concluded with votes _of thanks to the secretary, treasurer, retiring directors, and the chairman.
