WESTLAND'S GRIEF.

A gentleman resident in Wellington, who returned from the West Coast by tho Arahura this morning, after an absence of two weeks, states that the whole of Westland is plunged in grief. Our informant was in Greymouth when the news of the Premier's death arrived, and he says the place was thrown into a state of stupefaction. At "first the people refused to believe the news. Business was entirely suspended and everybody mourned for their idol of many years. "The Arahura, on the way to Wellington," he said, "was really a ship of mourning." On the Coast there is a strong feeling that the Premier should be buried where he had his political birth — in some honoured spot in the district which ho represented so long.
