Nakens, editor of the Republican newspaper Madrid, who was arrested on a charge of facilitating Mural's escape after the outrage last week, admits that Mural went to his office on the afternoon of the explosion. After binding M. Nakeii3 to secrecy, Mural informed him that he had just thrown a bomb. He believed King Alfonso was untouched, but there were other victims. He asked to be hidden. M. Nakens says he induced a friend to shelter Mural for the night, on the plea that he was a prosecuted journalist, who feared arrest on account of the attempt on the King's life. Mural left the next morning. M. Nakens states that, personally, he deprecated tho attempt ut assassination, but declares that it was impossible for him to betray one who confided in him. He acted in accordance with his convictions, not because he sympathised with Mural's ideas, to winch, in fact, he had always been strongly opposed. The explanation has created a profound sensation in Madrid, It is stated now that Mural endeavoured to fcecure a seat at San Qeronimo Church, where the Royal marriage took place. FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS. (Received ' June 9, 7.22 a.m.) MADRID, Bth June. The judicial investigation elicited the information that M. Nakene induced Mata, a, notorious revolutionary, to provide Mural with a room and a change of clothing. ! The Judge has ordered tho arrest of the staff at M. Nakens's office as accomplices. Several persons in Barcelona and Madrid were aware of tho plot, and were co-operating with Mural.
