It having been asserted that arrangewoftts had been made to ronew tho Vaticotiver mail contract with New Zealand an a partner, Mr. James Mills, managing director of tho Union Company, states that, taking Sir Joseph Ward's presence |in Melbourne as opportune, he (Mr. ! Mills) interviewed Mr. Dcakin and the Federal Postmaster on the subject, but nothing resulted to lead to the anticipation that New Zealand would bo joined ias a partner. The matter, howevor, la fitill receiving the consideration of tho Federal Government.
