PORT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB.

I The Port Nicholson Yacht Club completed the series of races for second and third-class yachts on Saturday. The races for dinghys, 14-footers,/ and launches were postponed on account of the hard north-west wind that was blowIng. Two boats started in the Patiki class, but the Tui (Pierard and Holmes) blew • out her mainsail, and the Malua (Dr. R. W. Mackgill) Teturned to her I moorings. In the second-class, two boats faced the starter, the Muritai (E. P. B. Bucholz), smin, and Syren (Laing and Swan), scratch. The Muritai held the lead until near Somes Island on the windward beat to Koro Koro, where she was passed by the Syren, who kept in front, and ultimately won by 7min. The finishing times were: — Syren 5h 15min, and Muritai 5h 22min. The Syren is the winner in the second-class, having scored 5 points, and the Muritai (4 points) is secohd. The race for the third-class brought out the following starters:— lria (Ryan and „ Hebbend), scratch ; Taipari (Highet and Brewer), j 2min ; Mahaki (Jamieson and Co.), 10 mm ; and Karaka (Lambert and M'Keegan), 20min. The Taipari lost 20min at the start through being late. The Karaka kept in front till the finish, beating the Mahaki by 6min, and the Iris finished third, 4min later. The Taipari finished 2lmih later. The times we're : — Karaka 4h 33min, Mahaki 4h 39min, Iris 4h 43hiin, -and Taipari 5h 4min. The Taipari is the winner in the third--class, having scored 8 points, while the Iris, Karaka and Mahaki Have each scored 6 points. The tie for second place will be sailed off on the 13th January, 1906, together with other races. Messrs. R. Morse and F. Gardiner were starter, judge, and timekeeper, and Mr. J. Moffatt was the handicapper.
