MASSACRE BY NATIVES.

TARTY OF WHITES ATTACKED. (TRESS ASSOCIATION."! PORT DARWIN, 16th December. News has been received of a massacre on the Victoria River. The details, however, are meagre. It is bolieted that a number of blacks attacked a Government bore (well-sinking) party, killing some of them. The party captured seven or eight of the natives and put them in chains. A launch owned by one Bradshaw arrived on the scene shortly after, and the crew undertook to convey the natives to Port Darwin. After leaving, Bradshaw had the irons removed from tho natives. They immediately attacked and murdered the .whole crew except a black boy. t Tlie names of tho victims were : — Bradshaw, Eggeroffe, Donnock, Skeahan, and four" blacks.' ' FURTHER DETAILS. (Received December 18, 9.57 a.m.) PORT DARWIN, This Day. Additional particulars show that the other whites strongly objected to Bradshaw's knocking the irons off the blacks. After some altercation Bradshaw got his own way, and the party went to sleep. Apparently no watch was kept. Late in the evening, "Bobby," the black boy who escaped, said the prisoners killed Skeahan and Donuock. Almost simultaneously Eggeroffe and a native in the engine-room were killed. Bradshaw was awakened by the noise, but was immediately knocked down by a tomahawk. "Bobby" was twelve nights in reaching the station, which places the late tragedy as taking place, approximately, on the 26th November.
