«■ CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION. /pubs AseoouTioio LONDON, 16th December.
An unusual case has just been decided at Cardiff. Edward May sued the Taff Vale Railway Company for compensation for the lobs of his legs, being run over by a train. The defence was that before being roun over May bought several insurance coupons, and provided himself with three handkerchiefs, to be used as bandages. He then lay on the metals nnd sacrificed his limbs. The verdict was for the defendant company. j Particulars of tho above case were sent out by our London correspondent several weeks ago. The question was argued at considerable length whether a I man would have sufficient nerve to deliberately placo himself on a railway line and court mutilation, and thero was a great diversity of opinion on the point. Tho Court has now settled the question by deciding against the plaintiff.
