The weather was fine at the start, and there is a good attendance. Results : — Spring Handicap, of 125 soys ; one mf.e. — Mr. J. H. Prosser's Gold Crown, by Gold Reef — Nymph, 8.12, 1; Lass o' Gowrie, 7.12, 2; Whakiuviki, 7.12, 3. Scratched — Paritutu. Won by a length. Time, lmin 47 2-ssec. Dividends, £3 17s and £1 6s. Maiden Hack Race, of 60 soys; six furlongs.— Mr. Higgot's br. f Petticoat, by Multiform— Bloomer, 8.2,1; Api, 8.2, 2 ; Glenulleu, 8.2, 3. Scratched— Jet de More, Ebb Tide, Rosalinda, Clementine, Clifton, Tautoiu, Gay Spark, and Seaman. Won with ridiculous ease. Time, lmin 18 4-ssec. Dividends, £2 10s and £1 4s. Dividends, £9 11s and £1 3s. Ah the Geraldine Meeting to-day Lucky Star won the Hunters' Hurdles, Early Van second ; dividend, £2 4s. The Squatters' Handicap resulted — King's Guest - 1, .Jolly Tvoger 2, Stepaside 3. Dividends, £2 2s and £2 10s. Geraldine Cvp — Calibre 1, Clanburn 2, De la Key 3. Dividend,, £2 10s. HASTINGS TRAINING NOTES. HASTINGS, This Day. Tht weather was splendid early th^s morning, and some good gallops were recorded. Operetta, Polyanthus, Assayer, and Reservoir covered seven furlongs in "splendid time, Operetta showing the way. Monarch did a pleasing gallop once round. Flower Gi,rl had Moral settled at the end of five furlongs. Dalny finished strong atjfhe end of four furlongs. Mataiki and Ruanui^were companions over five furlongs. Splendid -Idea accounted for Merriwai over four furlongs. Lurcher, Matapiro, and Needlework were schooled over four flights, Needlework finishing in front. Starshoot and Watts's English colt galloped five furlongs at a stiong gait, the former showing his heels to his companion. Gold Seal beat Scotch Reel • over a similar journey. Waipunehu, Mecca, apd Lord Rosebery covered five furlongs in good time, Mecca having a slight advantage at the finish. Hipporofla accounted for Probable to the tune of two lengths over six furlongs. Mahutonga and Mystification traversed a mile, the former holding his companion safe. Inspan, and Cavill went a mile together. Others did slow work.
