HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. There was another large audience at His Majesty's Theatre last night, when Saturday's programme was repeated! and inueh enjoyed by a, large audience. THEATRE ROYAL. The Hon. Kathleen Plunket and party from Government House were present at the Theatre Royal last night to witness the entertainment by Dixs Gaiety Company. A number of new films were shown by aid of the kinematograph machine, including one of a Rugby football match for the championship of England. The programme- will be repeated this evening. Large attendance of skaters are witnessed every evening at the Skating Rink, Ingestre-sti eet. At Newtown last night the local branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation held a conversazione, at which the Premier handed over to the branch its charter of existence. The proceedings were interspersed with musical items and short addresses. Songs were given by Messrs.' Godfrey, Berlin, and E. M'Carthy, junr., a piano solo by Mr. George, afad a recitation by the Hon. Jame'B Carroll. Particulars of Mr. Seddon's Speech are published in another column. At the- meeting of the Diocesan Synod list week a new Parochial District was constituted Under tlie name of Kilbirnie and Miramar, with the Vicar resident in KDbirnie. The parishioners are now, anxious to build a vicarage for the clergyman, who will shortly be instituted. A building fund has been opened, and promises to the amount of over £40 have been given. As a further help towards this object, the Musical Society, of which Mr. J. H. Otto Schwartz is conductor, will give, a concert in Heginbotham's Hall, Kilbirnie, on Thursday next. Some of Wellington's best musicians and singers are resident at the "Bays," and wdll assist. Particulars are set out in our advertising columns. The Excelsior Lodge of Druids hield a social gathering in the Druidrf Hall last evening. The hall was prettily decorated with electric light globes. Bros. W. Lepper and A; Brown acted- aa masters of ceretntfnies. The dance music was supplied by Bro. E. King. An enjoyable evening was spent, at the Webb-street Prinlifive Methodist Schoolroom last night, when members of the Mutual Improvement Society gave an original and humorous evening's entertainment. There was a large attendance, and an excellent programme was gone through. Songs, recitations, and addresses were given .by Messrs. Tomlin, Thomas, Snelling,' Withington, Dowson, M'Coll, Ellison, Pethei'ick, Cutforth, and Chapman. The accompaniments were played by Master Harry Snelling.
