To Induce Sleep. — Drink a brenkfastcupful of hot milk before retiring, nnd a peaceful night's rest will be obtained. This is a hint to those who suffer from iiißomnia. Value of Walking. — Vigorous walking is a good form of bodily exercise, as it tends to increase the normal activity of every organ and function of the body. A Creaky Hinge.— 'Hie application »f a bit of soap or the point of a lead pencil on a creaky hinge will cure its stiffncts and iik'iico its complaints. To Whiten Linen.— To whiten linen, dissolve a little pipe-clay in the water vied for washing. This saves labour and soap, and cleans the dirtiest linen thoroughly. Putty Marks.— Putty can be removed from windows by rubbing the marks briskly with vinegar or turpentine, nnd afterwards washing in very hot water. Peeling Onions.— When peeling onions, begin at the root end and peel upwards, nnd the onions will scarcely affect your eyes nt ail. Clean Dishcloths. — Dishcloths nre quickly made' fresh nnd sweet by boiling in clenn water with a good lump of &oda added. Sugnr in Tarts. — Always put the sugar used in a tart in the centre of the fruit, not at tho top, as this makes the paste sodden. Black Lace.— If you hnve some black Ince that looks hopelessly rusty, sonk it for some hours in n solution of vinegar nnd water (two tablespoons of the former to a pint of the latter is about th© right proportion), then rinse in cold toffee, and iron nhile damp in two pieces of flannel. It is j Hondeiful how this treatment improves chubby lace.
