PECULIAR CONDUCT OF A HUSBAND. fnr TKLKMiAi-ir— i-nßss ABBOWATION.I ASHHURTON, 27th February. At 7.30 this morning, as Mrs,. W. Burgess, of Methven, and another avoman, were driving into Methvon from the hills in a trap, Mis. Burgcas's hus bind rodo up and fired at his wife with jv rovolvet, liitting hor in tho foiohend. Ho also fired at Iho other woman, but mis.ted and rodo away. Mrs. Burgess received medical attention, and wns brought into Ashburton Hospital. She is in a precarious condition. Burgess, hor husband, a man about thirty, was afterwards found drowned in a water-hole.
