The Times publishes an article from its Australian correspondent relating to the New Hebrides, in which the Federal Government is advi&ed to concede preference to Australian settlers there. ANGLO-FRENCH CONVENTION. PARIS, Bth December. The Senate, by 215 votes to 15, ratified the Anglo-French Convention. The convention between France and Siam has also been ratified by the Senate. The Privy Council has reserved its judgment in the Wellington case, Riddifdrd v. the King. IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. LONDON, Bth December. The imports for November, increased £1,947,000, and the exports increased £3,075,000, compared with the previous November. The expansion is chiefly in manufactured goods, and cotton chiefly accounts for the increased exports. THE NEW YORK SENSATION. NEW YORK, Bth December. Mrs. Chadwiok, who was alleged to have borrowed large sums of money from New York financiers on- a specious story regarding certain securities, was arrested at Cleveland on a charge of aiding a bank official to embezzle.
