The Woods-Williamson Co. , begin a short season pf drama .at the Opera House next Saturday night, opening with Miss Williamson's latest work "B?rabbas." MUSICAL UNION CbNCERTS. The booking of scats by subscribers to the Wellington Musical Union for the, four concerts which are to be given by the Union next Friday and the following week in the Town Hall continued throughout yesterday afternooD at the Dresden^ . The Hon. Secretary of the Union, Mr. A. M. Lewis, had a very anxious time, many of the impatient waiting patrons' mttking rio allowance for unavoidable delays and new condi-. tioris. It was no small task to create booking arrangements fof such a large hall. Some 2300 seats were booked during the afternoon. The box plan will be available to the public on . Monday at noon, and another rush, is expected. A successful rehearsal of the chorus atld orchestra of the Union was held in the Sydney-strSet Schoolroom last night. "The Lobgesang" (Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise), which is to be sung at the opening of the Town Hali; next Wednesday afternoon, was tried; also "The Spectre's" Bride." Miss Amy Murphy, of Dunedin, the soprano soloist, took part in the practice. Other rehearsals are to be held in the Town Hall this afternoon and on Monday and Tuesday evenings: The Missions to Seamen Institute was crowded last night, when the Wellington Navals under Lieut. -Col. Campbell and Capt. Bell gave tlieir annual concert. The entertainment was a bright and attractive 6ne. Items were rendered by the Misses Guerney ana* Hawthorn (pianist), Mr. W. Stephens, Gunners Young, Brown, Petherlck, Parsons^ Skinner, Binns (Old Navals), Lietit. Denniston, Petty Officers Houchen and Griffith!, and Gunners Davenport, Lewis, Wishart, Salesbury, and Drum and Fife Band of the Navals. Mr. Jas. Moore gave a temperance address entitled "Hands Off," and aa a result of his speech nine men signed the pledge. Votes of thanks arid cheers were given to the Navals for their efforts. Hospitality provided by the entertainers was partaken of'at the conclusion of the concert. The Japanese costume fair held to assist the funds of the Webb-street Primitive Methodist Church dosed last night. There was a bright programme for the evening, including a fan drill by children tfnfl music by various contributors. The sale was financially successful.
