PERSONAL MATTERS.
The Inspector of Prisons (Lieut. -Colonel Hume) left for the North to-day. Mr. F. A. Kebbell has resigned the honorary secretaryship of the Wellington Golf Club, in which position he has worked energetically for the past three years. Mr. John Fuller, jun., who has been stationed in Dunedin, arrived in Wellington this morning to take charge of the firm's local theatre, while Mr. Beti Fuller goes South on a holiday. Mrs. Backhouse and Miss Sandy, of Sydney, Dr. J. W. O. Blown, of Victoria, and Mr. John Nicol, C.M.G., Miss Nicol, and Mrs. Heathcote, of Durban (South Africa.), are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mr. Thomas D. Glover, a member of the firm of Messrs. Glover and Hanson, was married to Miss Nellie Coogan, eldest daughter of Mr. J. Coogan, at St. Joseph's Church, Buckle-street, this afternoon "by the Jttev. Father O'Shea. Misses May Coogan, sister of -the bride, and Mona Porter, niece of the bridegroom, attended the brido, and Messrs. A. E. Odlin and William Glover waited on the bridegroom. Advantage was taken of the. Sundayschool anniversary services in the Con-stable-streel Congregational Church last night to make presentations to Amy Cowan, who had been attached to the school since its formation. The presentations, which were given on the eve of Miss Cowan's marriage, were made by Mrs. W. A. Evans (President) on behalf of the Leisure Hour Society, of which Miss Cowan was Secretary, and by Mr. E. Bold (choirmaster) on behalf of the choir. At St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral this afternoon the wedding was solemnised of Miss Thyra Talvase Beetham, eldest ..daughter of Mr. Hngli H. Beetham, of Brancepeth, Wairarapa, and Mr. Marmaduke Bethell, of Pahau Pastures, Canterbury. The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Wellington, assisted by the Rev. Wyndham Earee (Masterton) and the Rev. T. H. Sprott. The bridesmaids were Misses Weva Beetham (sister of the bride), Ida Russell and L. Fitzroy (cous- 1 ins of the bride), Rhoda Bethell (sister of the bridegroom), Flora Brandon, and Katherine Fitzgerald. Mr. R. F. Beetham (brother of bride) was best man, aiid the groomsmen were Messrs. Guy and Algar Williams, D. Riddiford, Charles Higginson, and Orengard Beetham (brother of the bride). The presents were beautiful and numerous, and included some from the station hands of Brancepeth. The wedding was witnessed by a large gathering of relations and friends of the bride and bridegroom, who subseqxxently left for Rotorua.
