A FATAL MISTAKE. [by telegeaph — rsES3 association.] WESTPORT, This Day. At Millerton on Saturday, Mrs. Elizabeth Keepin, 33 years of age, swallowed a dose of acid in mistake for Epsom salts. The woman lingered on till yesterday, when she died. Deceased was a married woman with no family. ACCIDENT AT RAILWAY WORKSHOPS. WESTPORT, This Day. At the Railway Workshops Roderick George Chisholm, son of Constable Chisholm, an apprentice in the workshops, stepped backwards in front of an engine. He wus caught by the cowcatcher and had his left foot ground almost to a pulp. The foot was amputated above the ankle. INQUEST AT TAIHAPE. TAIHAPE, This Day. At an inquest yesterday at Turangajfere on the body of Isaac Jones, who was found dead in the Hautapu River on Saturday, the jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, "that ■the deceased had a fit, and falling into the river was drowned,,.
