MELBOURNE, 25th N_ovembe*. Senator Pulsford to-day gave notice in the Senate that he will move next Friday a series of motions, as follows : — That any policy aiming at restriction of comniembetween the British Empire and foreign countries would lessen the well-being ot the British people, and tend to weaken the unity and power of the Empire; that each self-governing colony should maintain freedom of action in regard to its tariff; that India and Crown colonies which have no direct voice in framing their tariffs should not have their present power of free commerce in any way lessened ; that as the proposed restrictions on tho imports of foreign breadstufis into tho United Kingdom would raise the price of bread throughout the Empire, such restriction would be very regrettable. In reply to a question, Sir Josiah Symon etated that the appointment of a qualified journalist to write for British newspapers a series of unbiassed articles on the leading facts regarding the conditions of industries and public enterprises in 'Australia had received cttention, nnd step* would be taken in the direction indicated. ______________
