Senator Pulsford to-day gave notice in the Senate that he will move next Friday a series of motions, as follows : — That any policy aiming at restriction of comniembetween the British Empire and foreign countries would lessen the well-being ot the British people, and tend to weaken the unity and power of the Empire; that each self-governing colony should maintain freedom of action in regard to its tariff; that India and Crown colonies which have no direct voice in framing their tariffs should not have their present power of free commerce in any way lessened ; that as the proposed restrictions on tho imports of foreign breadstufis into tho United Kingdom would raise the price of bread throughout the Empire, such restriction would be very regrettable.
