THE CARTERTON SHOW.
OPENED TO-DAY. [Br Teleobaph.] (From Our Special Reporter.) CARTERTON, This Day. An inch aud a half of rain fell here yesterday, and the rain continued all night. A warm bright sun, however, shone for a time this morning, though the sky is etill heavy and clouds hang low on the hills. The arrangements on the show grounds are, iv a forward state, and the judges started work fairly early. A number of improvements have been effected on the grounds during the year. Fnt cattle are more numerous than ever, aud the quality is up to the standard, "Messrs. Buchanan and Bidwill, local breeders, taking the honours. The Premier has sent his wishes for the success of the show, but says pressure of business iv the closing hours of thte session will prevent hi« attendance. Mr. J. Kyle, of the Hutt, won both championships in Ayrshire cattle. Messrs. Perry Brothers secured both medals in Lincoln sheep, and Mr. H. Willis won the championships in Shropshires.
