Last night a young roan named Walter James was arrested on a train on a charge of having stolen £1 12s from the dwelling of Daniel Heron, at Levin,< yesterday. This morning he was brought before Dr. A. M' Arthur, S.M., and remanded to appear at Levin next Tuesday to answer the charge. William Fraser was fined 10b, or 48 houis' imprisonment, for drunkenness, and 20s, or seven days' imprisonment, for having resisted Constable D. Cameron whilst in the execution of his duty. Walter Jackson was remanded on Mr. Wilford's application till Friday to answer, a charge of having obstructed Constable Curtis whilst in the execution of his duly. Esther Collier was fined £3, i in detault one month's imprisonment, for having used obscene language in Moles-worth-street la&t evening, and was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. Martha Johnston was remanded to appear at Moawhanga next Tuesday to answer two charges of having received stolen goods. Fo* #nsobnety John M'Laughlin was fined 10s, in default 48 houis' imprisonment; and Geo. Wm. Jack.son was convicted and discharged. One first-offender was also dealt with..
