ENTERTAINMENTS, ETC.
"A STRANGER. IN A STRANGE - LAND." Three red Indians again wandered about tho Opera House stage last night, and with' tho aid of some individuals attired in the orthodox costume of tho white man — and woman — kept another crowded audience in a perpetual simmer of merriment, with a frequent boil-over as extra laughter-provoking fuel was thrown on. No one looks for any serious plot, and no ono^is disappointed in that respect, but ovory one seems to enjoy the fun. A fenturo of the production is the wholehearted manner in which tho members of the Willoughby-Geach Company enter into the production, a feature that has gone a long way towards making "A Stranger " the success it has proved to be wherever it has been &tagcu. The last performance but one will be given this evening, as "' A Stranger " will retire in favour of '' The Wrong Mr. Wright," which will be staged on Saturday evening. Mr. Harold Ashton, representative of Mr. J. C. Williamson, who is responsible for the second tour of the Cuyler Hastings Company through this colony, arrived from the South yesterday. Tho company will open at tho Opera House next Thursday evening with "An Admirable Crichton," Avhich will be followed later in the season by '"The Light that Failed." Both pieces are quite new to, tho colonies. Tho latter is a dramatisation of Kipling's book, and is said to make an interesting play, while the Barrio drama is a delightful phantasy of somo phases of modem society. A "revival" meeting was conducted at Petone last evening by Commissioner M'Kie, chief officer in tho Commonwealth of the Salvation Army. The Commissioner was accompanied by Lieut. -Co lonol Gilmour, Mnjors Albiston, M'Millan, and Wintee. The mcctiug was largely attended, the practical result being eight converts.
