THE ESTIMATES EXCEEDED. [PBKSB ASSOCIATION. I ! PARIS, 14th November. In the Chamber of Deputies the Minister of Marine (M. Pelletan) explained that he had stopped the construction of , three battleships because the year's es- ( timates of naval expenditure had been exceeded by twenty million francs ' (£800,000). He was prepared to execute , the programme oi construction of the '. late Minister of Marine. The Chamber thereupon endorsed this [ proposal, and passed a vote of confidence in the Ministry.
