WOOL AND SKIN" SALES.
Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co. report on yesterday's wool and sfcan sales as follows: — We offered 3200 sheepskins. Wool is being kept back for the iirst wool sale of tho season, (o be held on the 27th inst. Prices for inferior skins showed a falling off in price to the evtent of a. farthing per lb, while good skins sold, much about late rates, with an occksiooial weakness. Prices were — Merinos and balf-breds, 4|d to s£d per lb ; crossbreds, :fino to superfine, ~4d to 4|d per lb; croasbreds, coarse to medium, 3id to 4-^d per- lb ; inferior and damaged, 2d to 3id par lb ; hoggets and dead, 2£d to 3id per ll>. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report: — We offered a catalogue of about 1500 skins. Prices wero rather easier than at last sale. We quote— Half-bred and merino, 5d to s|d; fine crossbred, 4-id to 4-^d ; good crossbred, 33d to 4-id ; medium crossbred, 3d to 3id; doad skins, 2j,d to 3d; lambs, 2£d to 3d per lb. Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., report: — We offered 1800 skins and son»3 oddments of wool. Buyers were not quite so keen, no doubt waiting to see how the firat wool sale of the season "opens at Christchurch next week. Wo quoto as follows : — Wool : Medium crossbred fleece^ 3j>d to 4-d per lb ; pieces and bollies, 3^d to 2%& ; locks, i& to l^d.
