ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
»Chas. Aldridg*, a butcher in tbe employ of Messrs. Gadsby Bros., at Taita, died suddenly on Saturday. Deceased had gone out with bis cart in the morning, and on hia return unharnessed the animal. Ten minutes later be was found dead on the floor of the stable. He had been suffering from heart disease for some time,, and a« Dr. Perry has certified; that death -was due to that trouble no inquest will be held. An overturned boat has drifted ashore near Petone, and the fact that somo clothing and boots have been washed a&hore points to tl^e possibility of an accident having occurred. The Petono police aro making enquiries. A middle-aged man named Duncan Gray, employed as a seaman on board the Uuion Company's steamer Rotoiti, met with an accident just before that vessel sailed last evening. Gray was climbing out of the hold by a side ladder when he missed his footing and fell a distance of twelve or fourteen feet. He was brought to the deck in an unconscious condition and removed to the Hospital. The latest advice from that institution states that there is no change in hia condition.
