FIRES.
[BT TELBG&ATH—- KRESS ASSOCIATION.] ASHBURTON, This Day. News has reached Ashburton that a fire occurred at the farm of George Harrison, Ann ma, .Mayfield, early on Saturday morning, whereby a large building GOlt long, comprising stable, chaff house, and granary was totally destroyed, with all contents, including live horses and one dog. The building was insured in the North Britißh office for £60, tho contents being uninsured. Mr. Harrison estimates hia Iq-sa at £500.
The Fire Brigade received a call at 9.20 on Saturday night to n chimney fire in Cuba-street, and at 9.34 to the Working Men's Club, where candles used for the night's illuminations had accidentally set alight to the Venetian blind in one of the windows.
