NEW ZEALAND'S ADDRESS TO THE

The address to tho King, signed "by members of the Cabinet on behalf of tho people of Nexr Zealand, is a particularly tine specimen of illumination work. It is enclosed in a frame of totara carved in Maori stylo by Mr. Jacob Hebcrley, and picked out with pawn, shell ornaments. Surrounding the oval space which bears tho address itself is a collection of views in water-colours of the four chief ports of the colony, and of some of its most noted physical features and scenery, including the Wanganui River, the Tasman Glacier, the Sutherland Falls, the Wairakei Geys.er, the Manawatu and Otira gorges, Lake To A&au, Milford Sound, Mount Cook, and Mount Lgmont, and also a scene at tko Cook Islands, one of our latest dependencies. Between the views are, faithful representations of indigenous flora and oi nativo birds— the tui, hula, kiwi, kca, pukdko, and tho weka. Mr. C. N. Worsley, the arTiet, has done really admirable work and tho details of the drawings well repay close inspection. The text of the address has been capitally engrossed and illuminated by Mr. W. R. Bock, and runs as. follows :— " On the occasion of Tour Most Gracious Majesty's Coronation, we, the Premier and members of the Ministry of New Zealand, for and on behalf of Your Majesty's loyal subjects in the colony, respectfully desire' to tender to Your Majesty assurance of their devotion to Your Most Gracious Majesty's person and throne, and loyalty to the Empire. We remember with love and pleasure Your Majeoty'n great condeeension and self-sacrifice in sending your beloved eon, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, accompanied by Her Royal Highness the Princess, to visit our colony, and we venture to hope that their Hoy«i Highnesses have been able to speak of the colony, of its loyal *aa loving people to Your Most Gracious Majesty in a favourable light. Your Majesty will be graciously pleased to know that your loving subjects in New Zealand are cn T joying every opportunity which the exercise of freedom and justioe can afford, and that general prosperity prevails throughout the colony. We also desire to bring uuder your gracious 'notice that both races in New Zealand are living in amity and friendship as one people under one King, one constitution, one flag, ond one universal feeling of hope and prayer that Your Gracious Majesty may long live to reign over our glorious Empire in the enjoyment of every blessing to the lasting benefit of Majesty's loyal and loving subjects, and for the 6tre«ding and strengthening of the bonds of brotherhood, prosperity and happiness among our kindred throughout the Empire." , The pataka made by Mr. Heberley for the Government for presentation to the King by Mr. Seddon will contain a photograph of the address, has beer mounted by Messrs. M'Gregor, Wright and Co., and is being sent to England by to-day's San Francisco mail.
