[press association.] (Received April 18, 10.58 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Miss Amy Castles's opening concert last night was a success. . Critics differ with regard to tho singer. Tho Sydnoy Morning Herald congratulatos her on hef vast progress. The singing volume of the voice, it says, ia not go large as it was, but tho voice retain^ its sweetness, and has gained evenness, flexibility, and everything that makes for advancement. Tho Daily Telegraph, on the other hand, considers that Miss Castles's voice has undergone a change undoubtedly not for the better. It has lost somo froshnjtss and power, and has taken on a somewhat artificial effect.
