fBT TKLKQRArH. — PRK3B ASSOCIATION.! MASTERTON, This Day. The register of the rainfall this morning for previous twenty-four hours showed nearly an inch and a quarter. The Arbitration Court will sit here in regard to the typographical and printers' machinists' disputes on "Wednesday. A proposal to lease the Masterton Town Hall was considered at a meeting of the Town Lanijs Trust last evening. Further consideration of the matter was left over till the next meeting of the Trust. At tho Masterton Magistrate's Court yesterday a young mau named Herbert James Presling pleaded Guilty to a charge of tneft, burglary, and breaking and entering. He was remanded to Wellington Supreme Court for sentence. Tho Town Lands Trust last evening made an annual grant of £50 for the promotion of secondary education in the Masterton District High School. JDI TKHOKAPH—OWN 00RRK9PONDKNT.] MASTERTON, This Day. , Constable Woodloy waa this morning awarded £46 damages and £5 11s costs in a case against H. Beale, plumber, for injuries sustained through falling into a drain. The damages were increased by £10 at tho request of counsel for the defence to allow of an appeal. A man named Marshall, a recent arrival from Sydney, sought a night's lodging at Qreytown, and in the rtorning disappeared with a watch and chain belonging to the person who befriended him. He walked through to Masterton, and was arrested here and sentenced to three months' hard labour. Very cold weather is being experienced to-day.
