THE GERALDINE COACH ACCIDENT TWO LIVES LOST. FBI TBLBGHAPH. — FBESB ASSOCIATION.] TIMARU, This Day. A drowning fatality- occurred near Geraldine on Saturday morning, the Gefaldine-Qrari coach capsizing in the Waihi River at the crossing known as Mackenzie's. Mrs. Scott, of Woodbury, was drowned, also a child about 18 months old named Pizzey, whose parents reside at Lyttelton. The other passengers were saved, though several narrowly escaped with their lives. Every precaution was taken by G-. Scott, the driver of the coach, who first crossed the river by himself and then came back and took the lady passengers and one man. The river was flooded. The mishap was caused through a horse stumbing and falling in the river and dragging its mate down with it. The body of Mrs. Scott has been recovered, but the child's body has not yet been found. AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr. Matthew Edgar, aged 90, died suddenly this morning while raising a cup of tea to his mouth at the breakfast table. Deceased was widely known in sporting circles. The sudden death of Mr. John Potter Clark is also announced, at the age of 81. Mr. Clark was Deputy District Grand Master of the Mark Master Masons, E.C., Auckland. Mrs. Mary Ann Samson, aged 62 years, wife of Nicholas Samson, a settler near Pahiatua, died suddenly at her residence on Saturday evening. The cause is supposed to be heart disease. As no doctor attended before death, the Coroner has been informed.

Dr. James will continue to act as Health Officer for the port of Wellington until his successor is appointed •
