MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

THIS DAY. (Before Messrs. W. R. Haselden, S.M., J. M. Richardson and C. T. Richardson, Justices.) Hannah M'Carthy, charged with drunkenness and -with having no visible lawful means of support, was sent to gaol for three months. Wm. Taverner, who deliberately threw a stone through a large pane of glass in the Lanibton-quay Police Station — because, said he, he was miserable — was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. George Mitchell was charged with the theff of a brooch from Clara Parsons at Eketahuna and with having stolen 14s and 13s, belonging to the Wellington Fresh Pood and Ice Company. He was sentenced to one month's imprisonment on each charge, the terms to be concurrent. Archibald Blue, on a charge of deserting Ms two children at Christchurch, was remanded to that city. Bail was allowed accused in £20, and one surety in a like amount. Orders for 7s a week and 7s 6d a week were respectively made against James Brown and George Allen, each of whom Was charged with failing to support an illegitimate child. Each defendant was also ordered to pay costs amounting to £7 2s, and to find security for £50;" in default, three months' imprisonment. A separation order, with the custody of her children, was granted to Elizabeth Sarah Weston, who alleged that her husband, John Weston, treated her with persistent cruelty. Wm. Burman, charged with failing to support his wife, was ordered to pay 10s a week for her maintenance.
