CHRISTMAS AT THE FRONT. COMFORTS FOR" OUR BOYS."

Another meeting of women was held at the Corporation Offices this morning for tho purpose of arranging to send Christmas comforts to the members of the Sixth and Seventh Contingents now at the seat of war. The attendance was small, but some active canvassing appeared to have been done sinco the previous meeting, as the following donations were acknowledged: — His Excollenoy the Governor, £5 ; Messrs. Sargood Son and Ewen, £2 2s ; Mrs. H. D. Bell, £1 Is ; A Friend, Mr. H. Baker, Mr. Smith, and Kearney and Co., 6s each ; Bing, Harris and Co., Bamiatyne and Co., Johnston and Co., and W. G. Turnbull and Co., tobacco ; Preston and Co., cigarettos ; Crease and Co., case of assorted goods; Cadbury and Co. , coooa and chocolate ; Hudson and Co. and Wellington Biscuit Co., biscuits; Phoenix Jam Co., box of chocolate ; Kaiapoi Woollen Co., and Ross and Glendining, parcels of woollen goods. Those present at the meeting formed themselves into a committee with Mrs. Thomas as President, Mrs. Tasker as Secretary, and the Mayor as Treasurer. It is proposed to divide the comforts prooured into two lots, sending one to the Sixth Contingent and the other to the Seventh. The Government will probably' bo askod to see that the packages are conveyed safely to their destination.
