'ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
The young sailor Bull who, as the cable informed us, fell from aloft and was killed during the voyage of the barque Auriga t was only 21 years of age, and he had served in the American navy during the Cuban war. The Auriga had left Westport on 7th September for Sydney with a cargo of coal for the Admiralty. The inquest on the body of Miss Sarah Rowe, daughter of Mr. Wai. RovreT ot Huiraog4, Taranaki, who was burned to death in her bedroom during last Wednesday night, was held on Friday. Evidence was given by the father to the effect that he found his daughter's room full of smoke about 5.30 on Thursday morning, and with his son's assistance subdued the fire. Deceased was then dead. So far as her father knew she was not in the habit of reading in bed. The brother of the deceased stated that he hea*J no noise during the night, but had heard his sister say she sometimes read in bed at night. The jury returned a verdict that there was no evidence to show how the fire originated.
