TACTICS OF FRENCH ISLAND SETTLERS. (Received June 28, 10.17 a.m.)
SYDKEY, This Day. Advices from the New Hebrides state that the French residents are petitioning for the appointment of Dr. Faran, of Vifa, to represent French interests in the islands, with Magisterial powers to deal with all matters relating to French subjects and the conduct of affairs between the French and the natives. The British residents strongly oppose such an arrangement, which they consider to be an underhand move for obtaining French government of the Islands.
