MINING NEWS. MOUNT LYELL MINE. RESULTS OF SIX MONTHS' WORK
[I'nns.s association.! (Received May 28, 9.10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The half-yearly report of the Mount Lyell Company to 31st March Just, shows that the net profits for the six months were £123,302. Dividends werepaid aggregating £55,000. After pay,ing for the Royal Tharsis Mine ai'id making full provision for liabilities, the liquid assets amounted to £161,000., The cost of production was slightly higher: than during the previous half-year. It is estimated that close upon five million tons of workable ore can be obtained from the surface of No. 5 level. Excellent results are being obtained from the purchase fluxes. '"
