ODDFELLOWS' CHURCH PARADE.

« The annual church parade of the Manchester Unity Oddfellows was held at the Sydney-street Primitive Methodist Church yesterday merning. In welcoming the members of the Order, tho Rev. <i. H. Mann expressed bis pleasure in observing that»the Society of Oddfellows was one ol the largest and the richest of all friendly societies. .Incidentally touching on prayers for assistance, Mr. Altvnn said ttett'God wanted common sense aa well as prayers, and friendly societies were a •huge testimony to man's common sense to do that which would help in the dispensations of providence for their happiness and well being. Men got along in life fairly well whilst the sun shoiie upon, them and fortune came their way, but. provision must be made for a rainy day,' and all honour was due to men and wo-! men who, in becoming members of friendly societies, manifested true concern^for, the common good. Mr. Mann then took for his text Mark x., 44 and 45, the teaching of which was that the true Christian duty was, not to be ministered unto, but to minister. He was greatest whe was truest to the duties of life for the common good. The parade was representative of the Loyal Britannia, Antipodean*, and Newtown Lodges, and among those present were Bros. T. W. M'Kenzie, J. Pinfold, and JT. Riddick, three of the oldest 'Oddfellows in the city. The Garrison Band escorted the members from their lodgeroom to the church and back, Bro. Isaac Clark officiating as marshal. During the service at the church special hymnssweresung by a strong and efficient choir under Ma\ Tighe.
