IBY TELEGRAPH.— TRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, This Day. The Trades and Labour Conference today carried resolutions against the issue of totalisator permits on Labour Day, declaring that Lauour Day should be a. compulsory holiday, and that Government should pay all their employees ordinary wages on that day. The " Conference affirmed the undo^irabilily of New Zealand joining the Commonwealth, and vfesolved that Government be urged to build workmen's homes m close proximity to the towns and cities, and grant easy facilities of access to such homes by means of train., tram, or boat. It was further resolved that Government bo urged to make provision compelling ail tradesmen taking orders for tailoring to employ tailors or tciilorefeses, such work to be done in workshops belonging to the firm taking the orders 5 to amend the Health Act in the direction of relieving • parents of the necessity of making a sworn declaration and payment of stamp duty when applying fov certificates of exemption from vaccination, and that municipal councils be urged to press forward the municipalisation of trams, gns, electric lighting, baths, lecture halls, and place 3of amusement.
