Lord Hopotoun, formerly Governor cf Victoria, has placed a wing of Hopetoun House— his family seat in Scotland — for the use of the Scottish soldiers wounded in the war. SYDNEY, 12th January. A policeman in one of the country districts has been removed from the force for the utterance of disloyal sentiments. '' ADELAIDE, This Day. A big procession was formed at Moonta, 102 miles north-west of Adelaide, .to mark disapproval of the remarks and actions of local pro-Boers. A gallows was erected, and effigies of the proBoers were exeouted ; patriotic speeches being also made. LONDON, 12th January. The Queen has contributed two pictures to the Artists' War Fund — one from her own hand, and the other by the late Prinze Consort. The Hon. Thomas Brnssey, son of the Governor of Victoria, is raising a Yeomanry Corps for South Africa, and will accompany it.
