THE MONET MARKET. The market rale gf discount for best three months' bills is If lower at 4 por cent. The Bank of England rate is 5 per cent., as against 6 per cent, on 1 the 10th January, 5 per cent, on the 29th November. 4£ per cent, 'on the 4th October^ and S£ por cent, on the 2nd October. , COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat. — The English and Continental wheat markets are slightly weaker, in sympathy with America, where the demand is slack. Victoria, new crop, January and February shipments, have been offered at 29s 6d per quarter, o.i.f. Butter. — There is a fair demand. Colonial is quoted at 98s to 100s por owt, as against 102s last week and 100s to 102s last year ; Danish. 114s, as against 120 a last week, and 108s last year. Cfieese is firm. Shipments ex s.s. Kmnarn. have arrived in excellent condition, and are selling at 56s to 58s por owt. Sugar— German beet, 88deg., 9s 4Jd per cwt; Java cane, No. 15, D.S., lls 9d. Bradford Tops — The Bradford top market is slack. Common sixties, unchanged, at 30£ d j and super sixties, Id lower, at 3l£d. The quotations for tops, River Plate, " B " type, for future delivery in tho Continental "Terms" markets are, at Antwerp, for January delivery, <sfr 32£ c; June delivery, 6fr 42^0 ; at Roubaix, January delivery 6fr 42JC, June delivery 6fr 55c. THE PRICES OF METALS. Copper. — The market is quiet. Spot, 10s higher, at .£7O 5s per ton ; three months', 10s higher, at £.10 5s per lon. Tin is weaker. Spot, £& 10s lower, at .£ll2 por ton ; three months', .£4 15s higher, at[Ji>ll2 15s per ton. Pig iron — Glasgow warrants, No. 1, cash, 5d higher, at 67s 2d per ton f.o.b. in Clyde. Lead, unchanged, at 10s person. Spelter, 12s 6d lower, at .£2O 5s per ton. Silver. — The current price of bar silver is 2s 3d per oz. YESTERDAY'S LOCAL WOOL AND SKIN SALES. Messrs. Levin and Co., Limited, report: — We offered twenty-five bales wool, sixty bags wool and 1500 skins, and sold everything under the hammer at prices onaleyolwiih recent quotations. Wo quote — Merino skins, full-wools, B£d to 9£d halfbred do., 7{d to Bid; fine do., 6£d to 6jjd; medium do/, s£d to 6dj lamb do., 4£d to 43d. Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co. report: — We offered 2400 skins and a quantity of oddments of wool. There was again a satisfactory aomand, and last sale's prices were well maintained. We quote: Merino skins, 8d to B|d; halfbreds, 7d to 8d ; crossbf eds, s£d to 6£d ; dead and hoggets, 4d to sd ; lamb skins, 4Jd to 4|d; shorn pelts, 9d to 1., Id each ; inferior do, Id to 6d each. The New Zealand Loan and Morcantilo Agency Company, Limited, report &<< follows: — Wool— At our fortnightly sale wo offered a small catalogue of bag lots, for which there was active competition. Every parcel was cleared at prices fully on a par with those ruling a fortnight ago. Fine wool was, if anything, a shade firmer Sheepskins — Our oataloguo to-day consisted of about 2000 skin 3, for which buyers coinpetod with activity throughout. Prices paid showed an improvement of id per lb in coarse orossbreds and id to id per lb for fino crossbred and half-bred descriptions, while merino ruled firm at he lovel of last sale's rates. Quotations — Full-woolled merino skins, up to- 9£d ; half-bred elans, 7d to 8d ; fine crossbred skins, 6£d to 7d ; coarso crossbred Bkinsj ssd to 6id ; Lincoln, 5d to s£d ; dead hoggets, 5d to s^d ; lamb 3, 3|d osd per lb; pelts, 6d to Is 4d each.
