[PHESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW YORK, 23rd November. Mr. Whilelaw Reid, the famous Amerioan journalist, who was special ambassador to Great Britain at the Queen's Jubilee, and was at one time Minister for the Republic to Frauce, made a notable speech here last night at a dinner given by the New York Chamber of Commerce. It was desirable, he said, that there should be a good understanding between the United States and Great Britain, and for amity to exist with Germany. It was to the common interests of all throe countries to have an " open door" in the Far East.
