The Masterton Borough Council last night passed a vote of thanks to tbo Wellington Harbour Board and its Secretary (Mr. Ferguson), for the action taken by them in getting certain objectionable clauses struck out of tbe Public Contracts Bill. The Masterton pnblio pound ia to be abolished in a month. After tbat date persons allowing cattle to stray on the borough roads will bo prosecuted.
