Mr. Dickson), who is in Melbourne to attend the Conference of Premiers on the Federation question, has intimated that he cannot accept the Act of 1898, but is prepared to consider its amendment. (Received January 27, 9.50 a.m.) Sydney, This Day. The Right Hon. G. H. Reid, Premier of New South Wales, is strongly opposed to the Federal Council'a suggestion that another Convention be held. He considers it would be a great discouragement to those desirous to see Federation accomplished within a reasonable period.
