A PARIS SHOOTING AFFAIR. + [PEESS ASSOCIATION.] Paeis, 27th December.
M. Paulmier, a member of the Chamber of Deputies, has been fined £600 for shooting at M. Olivier, sub-editor of La Lanterne. [It was Madame Paulmier who did the shooting, enraged at the publication by the paper of an article outrageously vilifying her and her husband in their conjugal relations. Subsequently M. Paulmier fought a theatrical duel with M. Turot, the writer of the article — time, place, and details being announced beforehand, and 200 cyclists, photographers, reporters, and others being on the spot. After both men had received a number of wounds the encounter was stopped. The French law carries the responsibility of a husband for his wife's acts further than does ours, and evidently M. Paulmier has been made by the Courts answerable for his wife's assault.]
